Math with Candy!

If your children went trick or treating I bet they have candy that you can use for math! The first thing my kids like to do is sort all of their candy.  After sorting and playing with the candy, I told Kysen he could keep 30 pieces of candy.  He worked on one-to-one correspondence by counting out 30 pieces of candy.  Then I asked him how many piles of 10 can he make with 30 pieces.  He made 3 piles.  Next I asked him how many piles of 5 can he make with 30 pieces.  He made 6!  So much math can be covered using all that candy collected!  Today I think we will work on patterns!
