Playing is fun and learning can be too!

Can you make a face? Ages 3+

This is a fun loose parts, transient art activity.  First we read the book Two Eyes, a Nose and a Mouth by Roberta Grobel Intrater.  Then we talked about the different features on our faces.  Next we invited the kids to create faces using loose parts!  They really enjoyed making all different types of creations.  We also worked on sorting as they would put the materials back in the sorting tray.

Materials:
Glass Nuggets (different shapes)
Wood Cookies
Sorting tray
Book
Wooden Beads
Buttons

This is an open ended activity.  So there was no right or wrong way to make a face.  When they would finish their designs I would ask the kids to tell me about what they made.

As kids put the materials back into the tray this is a great opportunity to work on sorting different materials.
