Mailbox Syllables! Ages 4+

This is a fun way to work on syllables. In this activity Kysen is sorting which words have 1, 2 and 3 syllables. Knowing how to divide words into syllables can help: improve reading skills, pronounce new, hard words & names, pronounce vowels, spell words correctly. We found these cute little mailboxes at target. I have also seen similar ones at the dollar store. Thank you Pre-K Pages for this great idea!

Materials:
Heart Syllables printable ( 6- 1 syllable heart cards, 6- 2 syllable heart cards, 6- 3 syllable heart cards)
3 Mailboxes

You will need to add the numbers 1, 2 and 3 to the mailboxes . Then print out your heart syllables printable and cut the hearts out.

Now you are ready to play. Kysen has been practicing syllables at school. He likes to clap the syllables out as he counts how many each word has.
